6 airport operational systems update

Demand for automation to achieve operational efficiencies and streamlining passenger processes is a key driver for efficiency at Rockwell Collins, which has embarked on a series of enhancements to its airport operational solutions designed to improve efficiency.

Integration of this 1-to-Many technology with other systems, such as ARINC’s VeriPax passenger reconciliation system, which verifies that a passenger’s flight and boarding pass are correctly matched. Separately, Rockwell Collins’ stand-alone new ARINC AirVue Interactive flight information display system (FIDS) offers airports a “one solution to meet all their needs” in passenger reconciliation and tracking. AirVue features a 3D wayfinder, which by scanning a barcode on your boarding pass can display the route to your departure gate. The route can then be transferred to your mobile phone.

A demo of the upgraded AirVue Interactive 3D wayfinder using mapping from Cologne Airport will be on the stand. The system includes state of the art 3D and mobile wayfinding, multimedia communications such as HTML and video and full content management capabilities that can enhance non-aviation revenue at airports.

A new highly intuitive reporting engine in ARINC AirPlan provides gate and stand utilization reports as well as capturing other daily operational data to enhance future scheduling. In addition AirPlan has various indictors including gate utilisation, and enhanced user notifications.

Also launching at PTE is AirTQM – a new mobile turnaround tool, designed to improve aircraft on time performance. ARINC AirTQM helps airlines improve many controllable aviation-related delays to improve on-time performance. It uses wireless, handheld PDAs to capture a time stamp for each task involved in turning an aircraft around, including aircraft pushback, towing, fueling, cleaning and catering.
